(Grand Rapids, MI) - The Concordia Volleyball team's season came to a close this weekend at the WHAC tournament. The Cards played the final game of their regular season on November 2nd at Siena Heights University. The ladies would fall 19-25, 14-25, 23-25 to the Saints. The Cards played well but could not manage to get their scorers into the right position. Brittany Schmalzel led the team with 8 points on the match.

The Cards would shake it off and prepare for the WHAC tourney, hosted by Aquinas College. The first match of the tourney was against Madonna, the Cards determined to get a win after past losses to the Crusaders. Although it was a close match, Concordia would fall 21-25, 15-25, 19-25. Ashley Hart led The Cardinals with 8 points on the match. Danielle Guss and Shannon Pietruszka had 12 and 13 digs respectively for the Cards.
The next match of the tournament was set to be against the host, Aquinas College. The Saints were a solid squad, and the Cardinals had their work cut out for them. The Cardinals struggled offensively in this match and fell to the Saints 14-25, 18-25, 10-25. Adrienne Kanitz led in assists with 16 and Ali Miller in digs with 14. This match would wrap up the season for the Lady Cards. The team has a busy offseason ahead of them, looking to fill huge gaps left by seniors Ashley Hart, Danielle Guss, and Ali Miller. These players had important roles on the team and the Cardinals will look for their young players to step up next fall. Good season ladies!
