LADY CARDS SWEEP ADRIAN TOURNEY
(Adrian, MI) - After two tough matches this past week, the Concordia volleyball team headed to the Adrian College for their annual Quad tournament. They were looking to get back on track before returning to conference play, and they did so, winning all 3 of their matches 3-0. The first match was against Rochester College. The Cards dominated the Warriors 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 to start the day off on a good note.
For their next match the Cardinals faced off against Marygrove College for the third time this season. The Cards beat the Mustangs in their first two meetings and didn't disappoint, winning the third match 25-21, 25-18, 25-12. The ladies carried their momentum into the third and final game of the day which was against the Bulldogs of Adrian College. The host team proved to be a tougher matchup than the first two teams, but the Cards played well, ending with a 25-23, 25-18, 25-23 win. Ashley Hart led the Cards in points, averaging 17.5 per game. Shannon Pietruszka was solid defensively, leading the Lady Cards with 24.7 digs per game. Andrea Greb also helped on defense with 12 digs on the tournament. With the 3 wins the Cardinals now improve to 11-7 on the season. They will travel to Aquinas College this Wednesday, October 5th as they head back into conference play. Good luck ladies!
