Football Falls to Siena Heights 33-3

(Adrian, MI) The Cardinals traveled to Adrian, Michigan on Saturday to take on Siena Heights University. CUAA looked to bounce back after falling to Taylor University last week. The Cardinals entered Saturday with a 2-4 record and looked for their first MSFA victory.

The Saints first two drives of the game ended in turnovers as sophomore DeMarcus Bunn (SO/Belleville, MI) and Kyle Campbell (FR/River Rouge, MI) recovered two SHU fumbles respectively. However, the Cards could not take advantage of the first fumble and would punt one possession later.

With 8:16 left in the first, Siena Heights would be the first the strike on an interception returned for a touchdown. The Cardinal miscue would give Siena a 7-0 lead. Four minutes later the Saints intercepted a second CUAA pass for a touchdown extending their lead to 14-0.

The second half would see Siena Heights adding two more quick scores bringing their lead to 27-0. Later in the third, the Saints completed a 19-yard touchdown pass extending their lead at 33-0 for their final score of the day.

The only Concordia points for the day would come from a 43-yard Brayden Bennett (SO/Battle Creek, MI) field goal. As the final seconds ran off the clock, the final score was 33-3 in favor of Siena Heights.

The Cardinals will look to bounce back next Saturday as they travel to Watertown, Wisconsin to take on Maranatha Baptist University.
