(Ann Arbor, MI) – Head Coach Lonnie Pries, continuing in his second season at CUAA, has announced the 2014 Concordia University football schedule today. The first match-up will be a scrimmage against Alma College. This scrimmage, taking place at 4pm on August 29th, will be played on the new home field, making this scrimmage the first home football game in program history. The Cardinals will play a total of 11 varsity games this year in their regular season, with six of them being on their brand new field.
The Cardinals will kick off the regular season Saturday, September 6th at 1:00 pm against Trinity International University.
Concordia will face two new opponents this year. First being Anderson University, who Concordia will face on September 13th at 1:00pm for Homecoming. Later in the season, the Cardinals will be traveling to unfamiliar turf to take on the Crusaders from Maranatha Baptist College.
The toughest opponents appear to be St. Ambrose and St. Francis (IN). These two teams competed in NAIA playoffs last year.
The CUAA football program will also implement a reserve schedule this year. The first game for the reserve team will be at home on September 7th against Oakland University. Kickoff is set for 3pm. The Cardinals have a total of four reserve games on their schedule; two will be played at home and two on the road.
The Cardinals will wrap up their regular season on November 15th against Robert Morris University. During that game, the Cards will recognize and honor their seniors.
Concordia University and the football program are extremely excited for the completion of the new football field. Construction is already underway!
