Baseball concludes season after falling against Jessup at the NCCAA World Series

(Kansas City, MO) - CUAA baseball advanced to day three of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) World Series, facing off against the #4 seed Jessup University. The Cardinals overcame an early 5-2 lead, but the Warriors fought back for a 6-5 win.  

 

Kyle Winslow started on the mound and pitched the first inning Jessup took a 2-0 lead after one inning of play Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys came on to pitch in the second inning, throwing the next three innings In the bottom half, Tyler Lawson used an RBI single to score Derek Hebner  

 

In the third inning, Josh Burke tied the game with an RBI single to drive in Gus Simon.

 

Harrison Ryan then drew a bases-loaded walk to force Burke home

 

Justin Kozlowski capped the inning with a 2-RBI single, driving in Clayton McKinstry and Alex Czyzewski for a 5-2 lead.   

 

Jessup countered with two runs in the fourth inning to make it a one run game. Dylan Kints pitched the fifth and sixth innings allowing just one hit Ryan VanSlambrouck pitched in the seventh inning Jessup recorded two runs in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead.   

 

Logan Morris pitched the eighth and ninth innings, allowing just one hit. The Cardinals threatened in the eighth inning when Harrison Ryan led off with a single and Tyler Lawson got on base with a bunt single However, Jessup was able to get out of the inning without allowing any runs The Warriors maintained their lead in the ninth and CUAA fell 6-5.
