Men's Lacrosse tops #9 Lawrence Tech 20-14 on Senior Day

(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA men's lacrosse hosted #9 Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the WHAC regular season. Following the victory, the Cardinals honored their Seniors along with every other member of the program for their contributions. CUAA earned a critical 20-14 win to secure third place in the WHAC conference.  

 

Joseph Loria played the majority of the game in net, making 11 saves.  Lawrence Tech scored first, but Ross Preston and Michael Hart countered a minute later with goals just three seconds apart.  Preston and Hart each notched their second goal to build a 4-1 lead.  After Lawrence Tech ended the scoring run, Cooper Regimbal and Travis Wright tallied to keep the offense going.  Both teams continued to trade markers with Cooper Regimbal notching his second goal and Andrew Simmons scoring on the power play.  CUAA led 8-6 after a high-scoring first quarter. 

 

Andrew Simmons recorded his second marker to start the second quarter.  Spencer Guppy found the back of the net and Travis Wright also scored.  Ross Preston finished his hat trick with two goals to close the quarter and CUAA led 13-8 at halftime.  

 

In the third quarter, Andrew Simmons and Cooper Regimbal finished their hat tricks to extend the lead.  Travis Wright also recorded his third goal putting CUAA ahead 16-9 after the third quarter.  

 

The Cardinals continued to find the back of the net with goals from Gavin Scally and Aldo Mejia-HansTravis Wright recorded a power play marker and Aldo Mejia-Hans scored again. Conor Kinsey played the final 2:18 in net, making one save. CUAA secured a 20-14 victory as time expired. 

 

The Cardinals will be the #3 seed in the first round of the WHAC tournament. CUAA will host #6 seed Taylor this Tuesday, April 22nd, at 4pm.
