Blaine Milheim named WHAC Player of the Week

(Ann Arbor, Mich.) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and Blaine Milheim (SR/Eaton Rapids, MI) was named the WHAC Player of the Week. This is the second time this season that Milheim has received this honors.

During the four game stretch last week, Milheim extended his hit streak to a program best 25 games and batted .503 leading the Cardinals to a 4-0 mark. Milheim also totaled 8 hits, 8 runs, 2 doubles, 6 RBIs, and was 3-3 in stolen bases. The Cardinals swept Rochester College and Cornerstone University during the four game stretch. The Cardinals improved their overall record (28-13) and mark within the WHAC (8-6) as they look to make their late season push for a playoff seed.

Milheim's most notable performance of the week came in the Cardinals 8-2 win over Cornerstone on Friday afternoon. The senior standout was 3-5 at the plate with two doubles and recorded a career high three runs. Milheim also knocked in two of the Cardinals runs contributing to 5 of the team's 8 runs.

Milheim is among the conference leaders in several statistical categories including; runs (1st/50), hits (1st/66), doubles (4th/12), RBIs (2nd/39), slugging percentage (3rd/.724), on base percentage (2nd/.609), and batting average (2nd/.520), stolen bases (1st/27).

The WHAC has honored Milheim four times in his career with the WHAC Player of the Week accolades. This is the second time this season, and is the second Cardinal to be recognized this season. Jimmy McKane (JR/Saint Johns, MI) won the WHAC Pitcher of the Week honors previously as well.

The Cardinals will face NCAA DII opponent Hillsdale College on Tuesday, April 22nd and then resume WHAC action on Wednesday, April 24th against Aquinas College. The double header will be played at Concordia with game one set to begin at 2pm.
