(Chelsea, MI) Concordia Women's Hockey played a series against Aquinas College this past weekend. The Cardinals dropped both games to the Saints, losing 0-11 and 0-12.
Game 1 | Friday January 31st
UM-Dearborn 11 - Concordia 0
- Aquinas opened up scoring in the first period with a hat trick from Ashley Reese. The Saint would go on to score a fourth in the third period.
- Avery Martin tacked on a goal in the first along with her team leading four assists on the night. Natalie Vaitas also recorded four assists for the Saints.
- Morgan Kozar scored a goal in the second for Aquinas en route to two goals for the blueliner.
- Aquinas' Madison Morgrette scored the final two goals to put their lead into double digits.
- All three of Concordia's starting forwards recorded two shots in Isabel Hootselle, Maggie Coggin, and Breanna Sheridan.
- Teagan Johnson stopped 56 shots for Concordia between the pipes.
Game 2 | Saturday February 1st
UM-Dearborn 12 - Concordia 0
- In the second match of the series Amelia Bartels broke the game open for the Saints in the fourth minute.
- Natalie Vaitas scored a minute later with the first of her eventual hat trick and five assists.
- Madison Morgrette was the next to put one up on the board for Aquinas. Morgrette would go on to score four goals and tally four assists throughout the game.
- Mikayla Oppermann would record a third Aquinas hat trick to go along with her pair of assists.
- When Maggie Coggin went to the box for CUAA, the Cardinals did well to kill the penalty in the third.
- Breanna Sheridan had three shots on goal throughout the contest and Teagan Johnson recorded 51 saves.
The Cardinals will travel to UM-Dearborn this Saturday for a road contest at 2:00 PM.
