(Ann Arbor, MI) Coming off their second consecutive CIT championship, the cheer team kept the momentum going to take first at the WHAC Invite. Aquinas College hosted the event with six teams participating in the competition. Despite an unusual week of limited practices and classes due to weather, the Cardinals scored their highest point total of the competitive season with an 83.02. Lourdes finished in 2nd with a total score of 82.6.
Concordia finished with a sub score of 83.76 before a season low .75 in deductions brought them to a 83.02. Lourdes saw a deduction of 1.25 bringing their final total just below the Cardinals. The three judges consistently scored the Cardinals high in the areas of choreography, showmanship/general impression, pyramids, and jumps.
Head Cheer Coach Kate Edge was please how the emphasis in practice this week was able to translate to the competition. "We told them all this week to pick one thing to fix and keep pushing for that one area, said Edge. It was nice to see those goals achieved. They focused on themselves and did their job."
The Cardinals will travel to Adrian, Michigan on Sunday, February 10th when Siena Heights University hosts the Saints Spectacular. This will be final tune-up for the Cardinals before the WHAC Championships on February 15th.
