Women’s Tennis falls short at home against Cornerstone

(Ann Arbor, MI) Coming off a win on Wednesday Concordia looked to keep things rolling into the weekend as they took on Cornerstone. The Cardinals kept it close but ultimately fell short to the conference opponent, 5-2.  

 

In doubles play Cornerstone won all three matches, earning their first point. Jacey Powell and Sarah Eggelmeyer teamed up against the top duo of the Golden Eagles, where they were able to snag a game before falling 6-1. Makayla Steinmetz and Savannah Borrego took 2 games in the second doubles matched, where they ultimately fell 6-2. Sydney Orkisz and Amelia Black were also able to take 2 games in their match, where they fell 6-2 as well.  

 

The Cardinals were competitive in singles play, where they were able to win two matches against the Golden Eagles. Sydney Orkisz won her matches 6-2 and 6-1, and Amelia Black also won her matches 6-1 and 6-0. Jacey Powell, Savannah Borrego, Makayla Steinmetz, and Sarah Eggelmeyer played well, but eventually fell in each of their matches.  

 

The Lady Cardinals will next be in action again at home on Thursday against Saint Francis (IN). The match will begin at 4PM, at the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
