Tennis swept by nationally ranked Racers

(Lima, OH) Concordia Tennis headed south for their first WHAC competitions of the season, and their first spring events as well. The University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) played host to the Cardinals and came away victorious in both matches, winning 7-0.

 

Women's Match: CUAA 0, UNOH 7

Ranked 17th in the NAIA, The Racers from UNOH earned the doubles point, winning all three matches. Jacey Powell and Savannah Borrego picked up two games in the top match, while Amelia Black and Jules Meads took one game in the second. Mara Strock and Sarah Eggelmeyer were blanked in the third match.

 

In singles action, the Racers took all six matches to make it a clean sweep. Jacey Powell took a game in the top match while Sarah Eggelmeyer took a pair in the fifth slot.

 

Men's Match: CUAA 0, UNOH 7

In what was the first match of the season for the Concordia men's team, they went up against the Racers, who are ranked 5th in the NAIA. UNOH came away with the doubles point, winning all three matches. Zachary Pedro and Tyler Koehn took a game in the third slot. Connor Rogus and Kenji London in the top match, as well as Jan Lloveras Freix and Justin Pedro in the second match were both swept by the Racers.

 

In singles play, the Racers swept the top three matches in clean fashion. Jan Lloveras Freix and Jaxon Cain both took a game in the fourth and fifth matches respectively. Then in the sixth slot, Tyler Kohn was able to take three games from the Racers.

 

 

Both teams will next hit the court on Saturday, March 22nd when they square off against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils at the Franklin Athletic Club.
