(Lima, OH) - CUAA softball went on the road to UNOH for a WHAC doubleheader. The Cardinals earned a 5-4 victory in game one before falling 3-2 in an eight-inning game two.
GAME ONE: CUAA 5, UNOH 4
Paige Anderson started on the mound, making three strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Morgan Scott opened scoring in the third inning with a solo home run.
UHOH took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning. Elyse Brittain came on to pitch, making one strikeout in 2.2 innings and earning the win.
In the sixth inning, Elyse Brittain hit a 2-RBI single to drive in Brooklin Cox and Katie Tobias. In the seventh inning, Faith Cramton used a 2-RBI double to score Katie Tobias and Kaleigh McClelland for the lead. The Cardinal defense held strong in the bottom half of the seventh to secure the 5-4 victory.
GAME TWO: UNOH 3, CUAA 2 – eight innings
Hannah Duchene started game two as pitcher, notching five strikeouts in 5.1 innings. In the first inning, Faith Cramton hit a sacrifice fly to Megan Martin.
The next scoring play came in the fifth inning when Payton Lewis hit an RBI single to drive in Summer Brady. UNOH countered with a 2-run homer in the sixth to tie the game 2-2.
Kendall Kahl pitched the final 2.1 innings with one strikeout. The game went to extra innings, but UNOH scored the winning run in the bottom of the eight to clinch a split.
CUAA will return home tomorrow, April 17th, to host Indiana Tech University for a doubleheader starting at 2:30pm.
