(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released its yearly postseason honors on Thursday morning, and several Concordia Cardinals earned honors among the various teams.
SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
KYRI WIXOM | GR | ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN
Wixom played in 12 of the Cardinals' games this season, starting nine. The grad student is making his first appearance on a WHAC All-Conference team, playing 945 minutes this season. Wixom recorded a 1.90 goals against average while collecting 72 saves on the season, which was fourth most in the conference. He also recorded two solo shutouts and was part of a combined shutout.
ALL-NEWCOMER TEAM
MARLON RATAJ | FR | HANNOVER, GERMANY
Rataj appeared in all 18 games this season for the Cardinals. Rataj was a part of the midfield, as he recorded one assist on the season. He aided both sides of the ball and helped the Cardinal's defense to only allow 1.78 goals per game.
ETHAN KRUPANSKY | FR | LINDEN, MICHIGAN
Krupansky was another true freshman for the Cardinals that was able to come in and make an impact. Playing in 15 games and working his way to 9 starts, the midfielder played a variety of roles for Concordia, helping out defensively as well.
CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER
Jan Lloveras Friexas was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for his commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Cardinals head coach Jason Clare was named the WHAC Champions of Character Coach for the 2024 season. Clare becomes the second coach in Concordia Men's Soccer program history to receive the award.
WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Also, WHAC All-Academic teams were named on Thursday. The qualifications for the All-Academic team were a sophomore in academic standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The ten Cardinals to earn the honor were Dario Cela, Angel Elizondo, Clemens Gehlich, Nicholas Kiafoulis, Jan Lloveras Freix, Evan Lock, Elijah Macke, Trevor Meyer, Tim Relou, and Kyri Wixom.
