(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia volleyball team hosted their annual CRAM with on Saturday featuring team from all over the country. Carlow University, Indiana University Northwest, and Rochester College all participated in the one day CRAM. Concordia defeated Carlow and IU Northwest to win the CRAM in a tie-breaker with Rochester College. Rebecca McDonald (SR/Linden, MI), Alisha Anderson (SR/Dexter, MI), and Kylie Frank (JR/Chelsea, MI) led the Cardinals impressive play solidifying their spot on the All-CRAM team.

Here's How it Happened:

In the Cardinals first match of the day it took 5 sets and many long rallies for the team to finally win in 5 sets 19-25, 25-9, 24-26, 25-15, 15-13. Concordia recorded 60 total kills as a team led by 13 from Rebecca McDonald. Defensive specialists Denae Tolu (SO/Canton, MI) and Tara Schatzle (FR/Brooklyn, MI) combined for 38 digs keeping many long rallies alive for the Cardinals. Hailey McCourt (FR/Toledo, OH) led the Cardinals in assists with 21 and a season high 18 for Kylie Frank.

The Cardinals rallied to win the last two sets and record their 2nd win of the season behind a strong team effort.

In the second match of the day the Cardinals face IU Northwest looking to extend their win streak to two games. The Cardinals arguably played their most consistent match of the season controlling the Red Haws, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, and 25-19. The Cardinals relied on a season high 9 service aces forcing the RedHawks into 13 service errors.

Rebecca McDonald paced the Cardinals 15 kills with an impressive .440 hitting percentage. McDonald also led the Cardinals at the net with 6 block assists. Alisha Anderson led the team with 14 assists while Hailey McCourt assisted on 21 successful attacks.

The Cardinals daily sweep of Carlow and IU Northwest secured the CRAM Championship for the 2nd consecutive year. The Cardinals narrowly earned the championship from Rochester College in a tie-breaker scenario based on total sets won.

Rebecca McDonald recorded 28 kills in two games leading to her recognition as CRAM Most Valuable Players. Supporting McDonald in her efforts and being named to the All CRAM team was Alisha Anderson and Kylie Frank. Other members from participating schools included Laura Wilson and Calla McNulty from Rochester College, Kristina Hadock from Carlow, and Tori Gardenhire from IU Northwest.

The Cardinals will resume WHAC action when they travel to Rochester College on Wednesday, September 27th before returning to Cardinal Field House for a homecoming match against Lawrence Tech University on Saturday, September 30th at 7pm.
