(Cedarville, OH) The women's track and field team took a few athletes to compete at the NCCAA Indoor National Championships in Cedarville, Ohio. The championships were held on Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9. The team earned seven points and finished 13 out of 18 teams at the championships. The team came away with four personal records and one school record.
Jayde Ullenbruch (Sophomore; Port Huron, MI) led the team by earning a spot in the 60 hurdle finals on Saturday, with a school record-breaking performance in prelims. Ullenbruch rebroke her record by running a final time of 9.43 seconds. She followed that performance up just minutes later with a new personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.22 seconds.
Ullenbruch picked up on day two, where she left off on day one. She jumped into seventh place with her season-best jump of 5.03 meters. In the 60-hurdle finals, Ullenbruch proved the record was no fluke, as she ran the same time of 9.43 seconds. She finished in fifth place, earning the team another three points on the weekend.
Also competing on Friday was the Distance Medley Relay of Rachael Byers (Sophomore; Plymouth, MI), Chloe Gunter (Senior; Monroe, MI), Michaela Kurth (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI), and Grace Finley (Sophomore; Monroe, MI). The relay earned a point with an eighth-place finish in 14:31.77. The athletes competed on Saturday in the 4x800 relay, finishing in ninth place at 11:13.
Macee Ripke (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH) and Amanda Fogo (Junior; Fowlerville, MI) ran in the 5000 on Friday night. Ripke ran to a new personal best time of 20:51. Fogo ran close to her best by finishing at 21:46.
On Saturday, Morgan Jenkins (Junior; Cleveland, OH) and Quinn Stefanski (Senior; Saginaw, MI) competed in the weight throw. Stefanski finished in eighth place with a throw of 13.80 meters. Jenkins earned a ninth-place finish with a personal record throw of 13.28 meters.
Emma Puwal (Freshman; Utica, MI) competed in the 400 and 200 and continued to show consistency by running times of 1:05.4 and 28.54.
The teams will be back in action on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 for the WHAC Championships hosted by Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
