Sutton, Ventimiglia named to WHAC 2nd Team All-Conference
Despite a winless season, two members of the Concordia men's soccer team were selected to the Wolverine-Hoosier All-Conference Second Team by the league's coaches. Juniors Trevor Sutton (Commerce, Mich.) and Joe Ventimiglia (Macomb, Mich.) were named to the team for the 2006 season.
(Nov. 1, 2006 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- While the men's soccer team at Concordia University has improved its play over the last two seasons, the Cardinals still finished the season without a victory. However, that fact didn't preclude two of its members from being recognized by the coaches of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference for their quality of play.
Defenseman Trevor Sutton (Jr. - Commerce, Mich.) and midfielder Joe Ventimiglia (Jr. - Macomb, Mich.) were named to the WHAC All-Conference Second Team today.
Siena Heights University lead all with five members making either the First or Second Team. WHAC Champion Cornerstone University had two First Team recipients, including Player of the Year Tom Skilling, and two named to the Second Team. Three members of the all-conference teams were chosen from Madonna, Aquinas and Davenport while Indiana Tech and the Cardinals had two players chosen to the team.
In addition to Skilling, Cornerstone had the WHAC's Newcomer of the Year in Chike Taylor Phillips and the Coach of the Year in Mark Bell.
The Cardinals finished the 2006 season with a 0-12-1 overall record and a 0-12-0 mark in WHAC play. The Cards will start the 200 season hoping to end a 42-game winless streak.
