WEEK 10 PREVIEW: Football Preps for Critical Road Test at #3 Indiana Wesleyan

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia football will be preparing this week for a significant road matchup at #3 Indiana Wesleyan.  The Cardinals enter the contest 4-4 overall after downing rival Siena Heights 9-0 to build a three-game winning streak.  The Wildcats come into the contest 7-1 overall after defeating Taylor 56-7 last week. Both teams enter with a 2-0 divisional record and the contest could be crucial as the Cardinals seek an NAIA playoff berth.

Indiana Wesleyan enters the contest 7-1 overall.  The Wildcats have featured an explosive offense with 50.9 PPG while holding opponents to just 9.0 PPG.  Indiana Wesleyan comes in on a five-game winning streak with their lone loss a 20-17 defeat against NCAA FCS member Valparaiso University.  Head Coach Andrew Rode enters his second year at the helm of the program.  Rode previously served as CUAA Offensive Coordinator from 2015-2019. 

 

NAIA COACHES POLL

Indiana Wesleyan represents the MSFA Mideast at #3 overall.  Saint Francis (IL) is the lone Midwest Division team in the rankings at #19.  Saint Francis (IN) and Marian are both receiving votes.

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

David Cagle received both MSFA and NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week.  The senior defensive end tied for the team lead with seven tackles in the 9-0 victory over rival Siena Heights.  Cagle also notched a career best three sacks.

 

Caiden Thomas earned both MSFA and NCCAA Special Teams Player of the Week.  The sophomore kicker scored all the team's points with field goals from 12, 27, and 35 yards in the 9-0 win over Siena Heights.  Thomas also reached a program record with ten field goals made in a season.
