(October 4, 2008 - Grand Rapids, Mich) -- Looking for a chance to pick up their first conference win of the season and move up the standings, the Concordia women's soccer team faced a 2-0 deficit on the road at Aquinas College Monday afternoon. A pair of goals by Abby Lorion (So. - Plymouth, Mich.) allowed the Cards to rally for a 2-2 tie, their third of the season setting a new school record for ties in a year.

The Saints got on the board first from a goal by Carlee Chapman (assisted by Jessica Greaney and Bri Hill) at the 19:00 mark of the game. This would be all the scoring for the first half as Aquinas took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Aquinas would add to their lead five minutes into the second half when Randie Siroky knocked one in past Cardinal keeper Kelly Wurzell (Sr. - Lambertville, Mich). Down 2-0, and having only mustered one shot on goal at this point in the game, a loss looked all but certain for the visiting Cards.

Fortunately for Concordia, Lorion caught fire scoring two goals only seven minutes apart to secure the tie. It was the fifth and sixth goals of the season for Lorion and the second time she has multiple goals in a game.

The first goal came just three minutes after the second Aquinas goal when Lorion fired an Amy Zuccarell assist past the Saints keeper. The assist was Zuccarell's (Jr. - Ottawa Lake, Mich) third of the season.

Lorion didn't wait long to strike again scoring her second goal of the game at the 60:43 mark. The unassisted goal would prove to be the last goal of the game as neither team could come up with the go-ahead score in the double-overtime contest.

Kelly Wurzell made eights saves on the day while the collective effort of Saint keepers Mary Lothschultz and Kelsey Duley resulted in four stops.

Next up for the Cardinals is Davenport University (1-6-1, 1-4) on Thursday in Grand Rapids. The game was originally scheduled for September 13, but had to be rescheduled due to rain and infavorable field conditions. Concordia will look for their first conference win and first overall victory since September 8 when they knocked off Rochester 4-0.
