(July 1, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- If you're searching for a great way to get in, or hopefully stay in, shape over the summer months then the Concordia Cross Country team may have the opportunity you are looking for. Throughout the months of July and August, the program is hosting their first annual Summer Fun Run series.
Beginning Thursday, July 10 on the grounds of Concordia, interested runners can participate in a 5K open to all runners. Each Thursday (with the exception of July 24) through August 14 the event will be held with registration beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the race starting at 7:00 p.m.
It is the hope of coach Steve Montgomery to have two races: one male and one female, with a minimum of 30 runners to hold two races.
The course is newly developed and runs along the Huron River on the Concordia campus. The course is one 5000m loop on grass with a few gravel areas with a combination of flat areas and some challenging hills.
Runners will meet in the open area west of the Concordia gymnasium. The cost is a $5 donation per runner, with runners under the age of 14 being $3.
For more information, contact Coach Steve Montgomery at (734) 502-4809 or cu-trackxcountry@cuaa.edu.
